The Art Room: My Springfield

Springfield represents a lot of things to me.
I raised my daughter here.
I had the worst moments of my life here.
Yet I still remain here.

It should be my cradle against the darkness.
My port in the storms ahead.
Instead all I see is poverty all around while all in SAHA are proud.
Of the fact that they’re robbing people like me blind.

I thought this country was supposed to take in our poor, our weak, our huddled masses.
So where is that reflected in our city council’s values?
I know that Brandon Jenson does all he can to defend the people. Yet I can’t really see only one guy making much change though.

Every time I leave my house there are unhoused on my way.
I won’t tell you where though or you’ll make them “go away.”
I won’t know where she went.
Or where he got off to.
Only that it’s not safe to tell you.

I look to my neighbors across the street from me.
I think, would they protect me?
Would they hide me?
Are they the types of people who would say nothing if they came for me?

Well, I’ll say something if they try to evict my neighbors wrongfully.
